Taran is our in-house Endodontist and has been with us since 2018. Taran qualified in 2008 with BDS (Hons) and completed her specialist training at Guys’ Hospital, Kings’ College London (2020). Taran was awarded her MClinDent with Distinction. In addition, she was awarded speciality membership from both Royal Colleges of England and Edinburgh. Taran is a registered Endodontist and is included on the GDC Specialist List.

Taran is a member of professional societies such as the BES (British Endodontic Society) and Dental Trauma UK. She also regularly attends conferences organised by the ESE (European Society of Endodontics).

Taran is happy to accept internal and external referrals ranging from complex diagnosis of pain to providing a diversity of advanced treatments. Taran performs all treatment to a high standard and under the use of a high-end operating microscope.

Treatments that Taran provides includes vital pulp therapy, root canal treatment and or retreatment of any teeth with complex anatomy and canal curvature, severely sclerosed canals, management of broken-down teeth, teeth with developmental defects, teeth which may be affected by internal or external resorption and teeth which may have been traumatised due to dental injury as well as Surgical Endodontics when indicated in specific cases.

Professionally, Taran has a continuing role with Kings College London and assists with teaching and examining postgraduate students on the Distance Learning MSc Endodontics Programme. As part of Taran’s postgraduate training, she was also involved and maintains interests in various fields of research including outcome of root canal treatments, dental trauma and use of CBCT in endodontics. Her efforts and contributions culminated in her becoming a co-author in an academic paper published in the Journal of Endodontics (2021).

Does root canal treatment hurt?

Root canal treatment is a safe and comfortable procedure designed to relieve pain and save an infected tooth, and contrary to common concerns, it should not hurt. Using a local anaesthetic, your endodontics specialist will ensure the treatment feels no different to having a routine filling. The purpose of root canal therapy is to remove infection from inside the tooth, specifically the damaged or infected pulp, before thoroughly cleaning, disinfecting, and sealing the root canals to prevent reinfection. As a highly skilled and precise procedure, root canal treatment is often completed over two or more appointments. During the initial visit, the infected tissue is removed, any abscess may be drained, and the canals are carefully cleaned and shaped before placing a temporary filling. At a follow-up appointment, once the infection has fully resolved, the tooth is permanently sealed and restored, helping to preserve its function and avoid the need for extraction.

I’ve been a patient here for many years and have complete trust in the team for their skills, range of services and attention to detail. I have moved a long way away from the surgery but have never considered changing dentists. Also a special mention to Molly on the reception desk. Molly is so friendly, attentive and always gives everyone a warm welcome. I have observed that she goes out of her way for everyone to make sure their needs and queries are met. In a wold where service is being more and more dehumanised, Molly does the exact opposite, and provides such a genuine, authentic human experience for everyone ..

I had a tooth extracted which went very well with Osa. What I would say is that I realised later in the day and days after that I had very limited aftercare advice given, I have relied on google to seek information. The extraction was £410 so I do think the least the practice could do, would be to give patients an aftercare leaflet on what to expect. The professional thing to do from a wealthy practice.

Love Claremont practice, the dentists and hygienists are all excellent. I broke my tooth just after Christmas and they were able to arrange an emergency appointment to fix it. The admin is well managed with regular appointment reminders. The best thing of all is that they take NHS appointments. 100% recommend.

Don’t normally do this sort of thing - let alone for a trip to the dentist - but wanted to sing the praises for my hygienist Lucia today. Great job - and without the usual discomfort. Won’t go as far as saying I look forward to my next visit - but I know it’ll be fine with this hygienist.

I have been looked after well by the Claremont team, including extensive orthodontic treatment (through lock down!). They have always been swift to respond, profane friendly. My teeth are much better today than when I started. I wished I could take them with me when I move house to Suffolk. I can’t recommend them too highly

I have been going to this clinic since 2016 and I am very happy with their services. The receptionists are so lovely and always going above and beyond. The hygienists and dentists are always very professional and reassuring. I moved quite far away from the practice but as I am very happy with them I am not looking to go anywhere else. The practice is located in St Margaret’s which is very easy to access by public transport. I definitely recommend the practice!

I had a hygienist appointment at Claremont Dental Practise with Sabina and was extremely satisfied! She made me feel at ease from the beginning of the appointment and was clear and open with what would be the best dental plan for me moving forward. As my dental work needed a longer time and would extend my appointment time, Sabina volunteered to stay for an hour to complete my work in 1 sitting. I am highly impressed with her professionalism and patient centred behaviour!
Aside from this, my teeth look significantly better and this is in just1 sitting!

What will my tooth look like after treatment?

After root canal treatment, your tooth should look and function much like a natural, healthy tooth. What should I do following endodontics treatment?

To maintain long-term success, it is essential to care for a root-treated tooth just like your natural teeth by brushing daily with fluoride toothpaste, flossing regularly, and reducing sugary foods and drinks to mealtimes only.
